This site has been designed and constructed to display correctly in all current major browsers. Designed and constructed using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for visual layout, this ensures that the contents of each page can still be accessed, even if a user's browser does not support CSS.
Screen Resolution
This site has been designed to make maximum use of screen resolutions measuring 640 pixels by 480 pixels (640 x 480) or greater. Resolutions below this, while remaining functional, may not display as expected.
Documents
As much information as possible is supplied within the web page itself.
Where this is not possible, the information is presented in a number of file formats including; Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Rich Text Format (RTF) and plain text.

Access keys
Access keys are single character keyboard shortcuts that provide an alternative method of navigating to important or frequently accessed pages. and features
The level of access key support is entirely dependent on the browser, version and platform being used. To acertain if your browser supports the access key feature, please refer to you browsers help page.
In general, access keys are activated in the following way:
- Windows
- Press and hold the "ALT" key
- Press the required access key
- Press the "ENTER" key (Internet Explorer)
- Macintosh
- Press and hold the "CTRL" key
- Press the required access key

Text sizing
This site is constructed using relative font sizes, which means that text can be scaled within the browser. Please refer to your browsers help page for information on how to achieve this.
Images
All images used in this site include descriptive "alt" attributes Where images are used for layout purposes, an empty "alt" attribute is used.
Forms
All forms and their fields are labelled and arranged into logical groups where possible.
Links
Unless notified, all links open within the same browser window. Should you wish to open a link in a new browser window then hold down the "SHIFT" key while activating the link required. When linking to an external site GI Panel cannot be held accountable for the content of that site.
Standards
This site is constructed to the W3C's XHTML 1.0 Strict coding standard and CSS.
UK Government guidelines and the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines lay down standards for website compliance. Our aim is to meet WAI AA accessibility guidelines, complying with all priority 1 and 2 requirements and as many of the priority 3 checkpoints of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines as possible.
